1. Research
Academic and "public" research on national land policy, planning and local policy, at both the macro and micro levels. We invite researchers from academe and professional bodies to submit proposals on land policy and land uses. Proposals must conform with Institute disciplines, interests, goals and policy. The Institute does not undertake to approve any particular proposal, though every submission receives careful attention and substantive assessment. Proposals may be submitted at 43 King George St., POB 283, Jerusalem 91002, Tel.: 02- 6246828 Fax: 02-6245958, e-mail: machon@kkl.org.il
2. Research Grants
The Institute assists researchers at Israeli universities and colleges, and is the acknowledged body for the study of land policy and land uses. It coordinates the academic and public discourse on local and national land issues, and promotes MA and doctoral dissertations in these fields. 3. The Israel Land-Policy Forum
The Institute maintains Israel's foremost forum on all questions of national land policy and varied aspects of land uses. The Forum, today, numbers some 500 people and convenes periodically, in Jerusalem. It consists of prominent figures in the formulation and implementation of national land policy and local land uses: Ministers, MKs, mayors, academics, members of the liberal profession, planners, executives and so on. Every Forum session is devoted to a key land-policy issue, and concludes with specific recommendations. The discussions and recommendations are published in separate pamphlets and distributed to national and local decision-makers. For information on upcoming sessions and/or to register for one, please apply to 43 King George St., POB 283, Jerusalem 91002, Tel.: 02- 6246828 Fax: 02-6245958, e-mail: machon@kkl.org.il
4. The Karka Journal
The Institute publishes Karka, which appears every few months (three to four times a year) and is, today, the main organ for land policy and land uses. Its contributors are top public and academic figures. The journal is regarded by academic institutions as a valuable reference (its distribution has grown significantly in the past two years). To order a sample issue and/or subscribe to the journal, please apply to 43 King George St., POB 283, Jerusalem 91002, Tel.: 02- 6246828 Fax: 02-6245958, e-mail: machon@kkl.org.il
5. Publications
The Institute also publishes special works related to its fields of interest: summary pamphlets of the Israel Land-Policy Forum sessions; studies commissioned or sponsored by the Institute; books on land policy. Dr. Chaim Zandberg's book on land laws appeared in 2001, and enjoyed such great demand that the first edition is no longer available. Karka, another recent book, is used by academic institutions as a basic reader on land policy. A third book, on land aspects concerning Beduin, by Dr. Joseph Ben David, is currently in the pipeline and is soon to be published. To order Institute publications, please apply to 43 King George St., POB 283, Jerusalem 91002, Tel.: 02- 6246828 Fax: 02-6245958, e-mail:machon@kkl.org.il

The second Conference took place in May 2002, and dealt with "National Land Policy through the Planning Prism." It, too, was attended by some 600 strong. The topics discussed appear in Karka 52, which is available from the Institute. The Third Jerusalem Conference is to be held on June 11, 2003.
