Thursday, May 8th from 11:00 AM Celebrate Independence Day with a unique excursion to Hurvat Burgin in the Coastal Plain Region. Excursions will be conducted to Hurvat Burgin, which was excavated by the Antiquities Authority and has been recently renovated for visitors. The hiking path passes by a burial cave and hidden tunnel, lookout points and a well. Guides will be stationed along the way to show you how people lived during the period of the Second Temple. The hiking route is approximately 2 kilometers. Visitors to Hurvat Etri can take part in a variety of activities for the whole family about nature and heritage including handicrafts workshops, kite-flying, and booths! Spend a meaningful Independence Day at KKL-JNF Center at Givat Yishayahu. Participate in study and learning activities, for adults and children and explore the meaning of the holiday for all generations. Archeological activities for children of all ages will be conducted by guides from the Antiquities Authority at the Archeological Center. Children can experience work on an archeological dig and take part in special workshops about pottery and coins. The new bicycle path in Park Adulam – Cycle across the park from the Ela Junction to Hurvat Atari and Hurvat Burgin. The trip is suitable for adults and children age 10 and up. At Tel Adulam – Excursion in land rovers on the roads that cross the park from the Nachusha Junction (near Beit Guvrin) through Tel Adulam and Hurvat Etri to Hurvat Burgin. At the end of the excursion everyone is invited to an Independence Day celebration at Hurvat Burgin beginning from 15:00 with songs from the show “Yes-No, Black-White” performed by the Tzofim B’Shva Na ensemble and singing with Einat Saruf. The activity is free. Picnics are permitted but lighting fires and barbeque grills in this park is forbidden. “A Day of Meaning and Independence” A holiday in KKL-JNF courtyard, Cabri, Western Galilee Thursday, May 8th from 10:00 – 13:00 Join us with your family and friends for a hike, fun, and picnic. KKL-JNF and the Antiquities Authority invite you to spend Israel’s Independence Day in a unique and special celebration with a hike and creative activities. The day will begin with a hike for the entire family from the KKL-JNF courtyard in Cabri in the Western Galilee to the Convoy campground. We will return to KKL-JNF courtyard and join in archeological activities, including a workshop for preparing a catalogue of ancient coins and creating a coin in commemoration of Israel’s 60th year of Independence. Families can enjoy a picnic in KKL-JNF courtyard (No campfires, barbecues, or sale of food permitted.) Token Fee: NIS 10 per participant. For information & reservations call KKL-JNF Hotline: 1-800-350-550. “The Sea and the Horizon” – Family hike in the Western Galilee Friday, May 9th at 9:00 The excursion will walk through orchards and fields to the Yad L’Yad monument, commemorating the fighters that fell during the “Night of the Bridges” in 1946. From there we will continue along the seacoast to the Nikrot Ridge. After hearing the story of the train that ran from Cairo to Damascus we will climb the Sulam Tzor Ridge and to the Hanita Forest. We will visit the site where the first settlers of Hanita set up the Tower and Stockade. We will end the day with a hike to Park Idmit and the Rainbow Cave overlooking the Galilee and the sea. The activities include solving riddles and discovering things that you never knew before about the people who “made it happen” – and who enabled us to attain what we have today. The trip will include walking and riding in private cars through Rabin Park on the way to the city.
