Martyrs Forest covers 18,000 dunams on both sides of the deep and impressive gully of Nahal Kisalon. The forest is bordered in the north by the Sha'ar HaGai-Jerusalem road (Route 1) and in the south by the slopes leading down to Nahal Sorek (south of Route 395). In the most elevated part of the forest stands a famous monument called the Scroll of Fire, which depicts the history of the destruction of the Jewish people until its resurrection. Another important monument is the Anne Frank Memorial, which is next to the B'nai B'rith Cave. In the forest there are walking and cycling paths and recreation areas.

Nahal Kisalon Recreation Areas – recreation areas that run along the channel of Nahal Kisalon on the way to the B'nai B'rith Cave and Anne Frank Memorial. Drive east 250 m from the traffic circle on the eastern side of the Eshtaol Interchange (Route 395) and turn left according to the signs to HaKedoshim Forest.
Mahal Recreation Area - The Mahal recreation area is a "strategic" area and an important overnight campsite. From here you can go on trips by car on the Burma Road, on the historic "Jeep Trail" that leads to the "HaMasrek" Nature Reserve, and to many other sites in the Judean lowlands and the Judean Mountains. (Only 4x4 vehicles can navigate the steep Jeep Trail). KKL-JNF has set up many picnic tables here, including wheelchair-accessible tables and water taps for the disabled. A disabled-accessible path also leads to the Mahal Memorial, which commemorates the fallen soldiers of the War of Independence who were volunteers from foreign countries. The recreation area is located about a km south of the Sha'ar HaGai Interchange.
Yemenite Jewry (Yahadut Teiman) Recreation Area – a recreation and leisure area on the side of the road that leads from the Shimshon Interchange to the Scroll of Fire Monument, about two km east of the Shimshon Interchange (Route 395). The recreation area has picnic tables shaded by pine trees.
